So I've been mewing for about a year I'm turning 27 soon and have gotten some good facial and dental changes. I was born with a diastema and unfortunately I had it closed with braces when I was a teen because of my insecurity. Many years later I realized I had poor facial form my whole life which lead to my face downswing, lengthening and narrowing, and braces only made all that worse I realize now I looked totally different after I had braces put on. To get to my question, I still have my fixed retainer in and glued to 6 teeth top and bottom. When the glue breaks and the wire is off my diastema re opens, I do not like the look of my diastema and I'm wondering if I can keep the wire (which I think is giving me gum issues, swollen gums receding gums) maybe on just the two font teeth and let my arch re develop to its genetic potential with the help of an expander. Can I expand with the wire still on? should I put the wire on less teeth? any suggestions or input will be greatly appreciated thanks.
