I wonder how many parents of these kids know the impact that WHAT choice they use for orthodontic treatment can greatly impact the outcome for such things as depression? I bet none - if few - do. Yet, it is shown that orthopedic expansion can for some kids be the lifeline they need! https://www.researchgate.net/publication/233847774_Treatment_resistant_adolescent_depression_with_upper_airway_resistance_syndrome_treated_with_rapid_palatal_expansion_A_case_report
Current aligner treatments don't fix this hardly at all! They can't effectively widen!!!!!!! This is DANGEROUS! Straightening from canine to canine is insufficient for many of these kids who may commit suicide as a result. We need real change and we need it yesterday! I am looking for ways to help, including patenting something. Currently, I think we need to do a better cost-assessment and bring greater awareness to cash-strapped parents. Aligners aren't cheap. Palatal expanders are if you shop around.
