Is chewing better than static/holding jaw work?

I was wondering if there's any unique benefit to chewing vs. just static holding the jaw with weights. I had tried a segment with Falim gum in the past and it definitely brought upon good habits as I used to be mostly on a soft food diet. My masseter definitely got way stronger and bigger, but I don't want to have to constantly buy Falim packs so I tried instead to use weights and just use bite force/static clenching to make up for my current lack of hard foods.

I don't know if there are benefits comparable to chewing, but my jaw definitely still gets worked. Does anyone know if there are any pros/cons to each, and which might potentially be better? Harder, steadier chewing over bigger durations of time, with just shorter periods of heavy clenching with weights?

I know chewing works the muscle in more of a rep/endurance range, whereas holding does the same but with motion limitations since there's no movement.
