I keep hearing about appliances and expanders but is it possible, as an adult, to achieve all of those effects with just your tongue?
It is for some. But the learning curve is so steep that it can take years for many just to properly use their tongue. In these passing years they may progress like only 1-2mm whereas devices can get them there in months.

Hard to say, but if you go above 37 in one year you're probably doing great
I will reply next boxing day to update you. It does hurt my tongue though as the molars cut into it when I push against them. Does this happen to you too?
