Hi everyone,I have hard mew for years and it brought me so many healthy issues.Include ETD,clicking larynx, and tinnitus, for me the one bothers me most is ETD,as every time i swallow i hear cracking(sometimes popping)sounds in my ears, its very annoying,it probably means my tube or the muscle around the tube are not working properly.During the worst time, the air in my ears would explode suddenly with force which is scary. For alleviating this sudden impact psychologically,i had to use my hands to plug my ears even when i take my meal. The quality of life has decreased a lot,i cant even enjoy a simple meal now.
The clicking larynx also drives my crazy,i am pretty sure that source comes from my larynx but not palate or any muscle, its quite obvious that the clicking sounds like a bone is rubbing the other bone,it appears when i swallow even i speak(any movement that needs my hyoid to join would create this sound). For recent i started to feel uncomfortable when i turn my head around or bow my head, feeling tightness and sort of pull inside my neck).Well i will check it out later,i think i need CT scan, but today i just want to focus on ETD matter.
As you can see in this pic,the Eustachian Tube sits just at the back and top of the palate,i downloaded this pic before but just put it on the shelf, but these days it suddenly dawn me that my ETD and tinnitus could caused by pressing my palate to hard.(I had been mewing for almost 3 years, and i got ETD 6 months ago, clicking larynx a year and a half ago.But most of time i would say i use extra forces but not suck hold till recent.)So when i realized it could be related, i quickly use my tongue to sweep from the middle to both sides,i did feel that the left side of my palate was higher than the other. Also the ETD and tinnitus of mine happens to be more acute on left side. (Well i believe both side of my palate had been elevated though)Not just me,i’ve seen many posts complaining they got ETD and tinnitus after hard mew(sometimes just soft mew as they claim),and according to this pic you can see its logical in some ways.
So here is the question,if the palate had been elevated,is there any ways to reverse that??I cant even do suck hold now as when i do it i feel bit of sensation and ache around my right ear.If i can find a way to fix my body, probably i will do a suck way gently as it does help my rhinitis, probably not,bc the risk is still unknown.Anyway the point is i am trying so hard to find a solution, and sincerely seeking help in here~
Will it just drop down naturally by gravity? Will a reverse mew(using sternohyoid to pull my hyoid down)help? Are there any surgeries? Can i add some extra forces outside my mouth to push it down?I’ve heard someone said suck hold would lower the palate, the reason is that a doctor named shapira used to mention narrow palates tend to come with deep/high "roofs", while broad palates tend to come with less deep "roofs".But for me is quite doubtful and i am not dare to try anything uncertain now...
Thanks for taking time to read my post, and wish you all the best!If you have any suggestions i would be very grateful~~I’ve been busy in searching inf and visiting doctors for recent,so sometimes i cant reply in time but i will reply back later, and i will share the useful inf in my post for people who are similar to me.Sincerely thanks again.
Hi there, it sounds like you may need to work with a myofunctional therapist or someone in that field.
If you can't access one the next best would be to take the Legendary Face course from mewing.world on Instagram.
They offer a course on face correction and can help guide you.
Have faith, it will turn around for you.
