I realized that I seem to have lip incompetence, which is no doubt caused by years of mouth breathing. From what I understand a good seal on the lips is a crucial part of mewing, and keeps the teeth good and straight. As you can seen in the pictures, my lips are no where near sealed at rest. Should I use my cheek muscles to hold them in place, or just let them relax open? Will this get better with mewing? Also, is there an exercise I can do to correct this? Thanks.
Gentle suction hold
How do I achieve that? I use the suction hold to keep my tongue up, but can't seem to get a good one on my lips
Do daily myofunctional exercises for lip closure. If you let them stay open it will get worse, as will your health. Can you breathe ok through the nose? If so, tape lips closed at night with 3M micropore tape.
From my understanding you have to let your jaw relax and that will let your lips meet together naturally.
