Mewing feels much easier some days than others?

I began mewing roughly a month ago. The first two weeks were very difficult as I have malocclusion and a narrower palate/recessed maxilla on the right side of my face. I focused intensely on projecting the force towards the asymmetric side. My mewing is much less passive than what I assume is normal. I try to press the tongue as forcefully as I can for several minutes, with brief rest periods, and I'll try to do this as much as possible throughout the day.

Yesterday mewing felt very natural. I had no trouble keeping the tongue in place with symmetrical force distribution and it all seemed like the rewards of my persistence.

But today things feel off again. I'm hesitant to use the word regress, but perhaps that's what it is. The tongue is not sitting as comfortably as it did yesterday; and much more effort is required to keep it in place. The force distribution feels asymmetric as well.

Anyone have experience with this throughout their journey?

Do you use any suction in holding your tongue upwards?

Yes, I've been mewing 5 years now and occasionally I'll need to relearn how to mew because things changed for me and I need to re-adapt. Even have experienced things like "not feeling right" and asymmetric-feeling tongue like you said. Usually takes a day or two to adjust, but sometimes up to 2 weeks. I think it's normal and I believe it's a sign of progress too. It takes me a lot of mental effort to power through these phases, but I feel rewarded by seeing results once I've figured things out again.

Remember this pain... and let it activate you.
