Looking more into my situation I found out I have what’s called post gonial flaring. I have been a heavy chewer (up until recently) and as a result have this.

I found this replica of an BC- 287 Asian skull with some serious flaring coupled with huge zygos.

Is this trait always synonymous with heavy chewing? I’ve seen examples of bruxism without this trait but clenching is different from chewing I presume. Anyone here have this trait or developed it?

No, I'd say it's a bad trait. If you have it, your masseters have been used excessively, you will probably have a short and bloated face. The zygo widening comes from temporalis growth.

It's a meme that a wide jawline is attractive on males, let alone females. There's nothing wrong with a wide jaw, but if it's the same width or even wider than zygos, then it looks bad. Huge masseters also make the face bloated.

I don’t think it is necessarily bad. It has to do with how it blends with the rest of the face. But I think the picture @auxiliary provided shows that a underdeveloped face probably will suffer from this trait. How would you describe the rest of your face?

Otherwise, in what way where you a heavy chewer? Lots of gum?

@loliboly

My issues I believe are more to do with my body posture changing for the worse, but before that happened I had somewhat balanced features that I was happy with.

Yes I chewed gum almost everyday and funny enough when I stopped a couple years ago that’s when my face and posture started changing so it’s a bit of a mystery. My face basically just melted. Both my dentist and osteo (both of whom are aware of tongue posture) are telling me it’s reversible.

Good that you are on the road to positive change, then! And great that your dentist and osteo knows about tongue posture!
