I'm aware of my tongue posture since 6/12/17. I thought I was mewing properly but realised I did it wrong.
I wasn't lifting the back third and wasn't pushing the soft palate. So I watched this video again : How Incorrect Oral Posture Influences Breathing, Micro-Swallowing & Tongue Sweeping by Dr Mike Mew.
In this video doctor says that we should feel discomfort and slight blockage of the airway. But when I lift the back third like astrosky did in his last video ( https://youtu.be/C0aK86ReS1U), my airway is fully blocked. In this posture I feel that I'm doing it right because I feel the head support from my tongue.
The problem is I couldn't breath in this posture and when I lower the backthird to breath, I feel that I'm not pushing anymore. This is happening when I'm sleeping, I lower the tongue subconscously because my back third isn't trained to stay up and i can't make any progress.
I think that this is not only my problem but that this is the main cause why some people (like me) aren't making any progress with mewing.
What is the solution for this problem? (My IMW is around 40mm so I have a sufficient room for whole tonuge.)
Cheers
I have the same issue. Can you still keep your tongue mostly suctioned to the top with tip at n spot and still breath? I think what you need to do is to basically practice holding your tongue in that uncomfortable position before releasing it so you can breath, and repeat. Obviously you can’t do this often so keeping most of tongue on roof of mouth while still being able to breath is your best option most of the time. Even though you won’t be having that posterior third up on the back because it blocks your airway, I believe keeping that tongue up on the roof of the mouth as much as possible will help expand your palate depth wise over time so there is less discomfort when you bring that back third up.
Question for you though - are you experiencing sore throat along with difficulty breathing like I am when I bring that posterior third up?
