Does anyone know the name of the muscles which are located either side of the lips and contract when you smile? I can feel them on the inside of my mouth as well. My right one is much bigger than my left one for some reason.
Anyway they really protrude from my face in the 3/4 view and I'm not sure I like it. Wondering how mine came to protrude so much and if there's anything I can do to reduce them. For ages I've toyed with posting a photo but couldn't take a decent one that showed them in which I was satisfied with my level of anonymity. Luckily though, I came across a guy on an advertising billboard who has them almost exactly like mine! So I will post his picture instead. TBH though they look far better on a GL young black guy than they do on me! I never hear about these muscles mentioned on any of these forums.
Excuse the graffitti...
I have the same thing. What can be done
Maybe just stop smiling? Lol....
I think that's orbicularis oris muscle .
It's often seen on people who have hollow cheeks.
But the guy you posted doesn't have zygos wide enough to pull it off.
And that's why orbicularis appears to stick out much.
Maybe it's hypertrophied too much.
I saw another example of this - male model Sean O'Pry in a 3/4 shot. This is closer to how mine look, in fact I'll be darned if he doesn't have almost the same bone structure as me, although I have much bigger zygos. Same ogee curve, and the way his cheek curves behind the protruding mouth is eerily similar to mine. Similar jaw line too, although a much better chin than me 😐
And yet I still don't like how it looks on me, while I think it's a great look on him. He's great looking MM material and I'm not. Just goes to show how facial harmony is everything.
