Hello,

I have seen Mew's video about TMJ, he said using the chewing muscles while strengthening the tongue will prevent you from getting TMJ.

However, I think have developed TMJ in my right jaw, I'm pretty certain about it, I also have an overbite which is probably causing my TMJ pain.

I am wondering if I should stop chewing gum and hard foods so that it does not get worse. Also, will further expansion of the palate allow me to continue chewing?

Stop chewing and focus on the tongue, your masseters trying to keep your teeth touching while your tongue is pushing up is enough for now in terms of masseter tone/strength, although it is more difficult to keep your mouth closed without chewing, however, it is worth it to not get TMJ problems. Once it feels right and TMJ pain has subsided you can start chewing again.
