So I have one of those low maxillas, that when I exert pressure onto the roof of my mouth it blocks my nose. Now I can eventually separate the breathing and the mewing, but there is another quandary. Does anyone else get extreme tension or head ache from exerting that kind of force? It doesn't feel like pain that has gain, it feels like poppin' mollys and grinding your teeth all night......I've read.

Has this happened to you? Does it eventually improve with practice?

It seems likely that somewhere along the area of your neck and trapezius there are muscles that are in state of chronic tension. If this is true, you should be able to alleviate the tension by concentrating on relaxing everything you can without falling down, so that eventually the whole skull is hanging on not much else but the tongue.

However, I occassionally experience all kinds of strains and dull aches around my skull when I'm exerting a lot of force and with the head in a position I'm not used to. The defining difference is that these go away the moment I cease mewing.

@Colette

I’ve no advice on the breathing, but I surmise it’s just a byproduct of the dropped maxilla, and needing more time and effort using the tongue effect to repair, optimize the airway.

regarding the tension? Yes. That is something that is part of the process. Idk about the analogy tho.

I’m open to the idea that it just becomes more tense depending on the further down your maxilla is relative to the distance from your nose (as a reference point)

sounds like indicator that there is room for progress! It hurts, but I’d see it as inspiration. As a gauge for if you’re exerting enough upward force

It had been said on his forum that the side/area that you feel the more tension on is where the maxilla has dropped the most and thus the starting point of your healing growth!
