This action of raising the front of the tongue seems to have significance on whether or not mewing actually works. Beforehand I wasn’t raising the front of the tongue, but just raising the back and middle part of the tongue. I think raising the front of the tongue may help cause improvements to he face.
Also, does pushing forwards with the tongue, not just raising the tip of the tongue upwards, push forward the maxilla and mandible?
There's yet any evidence of the maxilla get pushed forward, the maxilla gets pushed upwards and becomes shorter, the mandible moves forward to accommodate for the changes in the angle of the teeth. The lower maxilla does slightly remodel forward though, become more rounded and less straight.
I think pressure at the sides of the tongue causes IMW expansion, but pressure on alveolar ridge upwards causes shortening of maxilla, most people on here want to shorten their maxilla, not expand their IMW. Also look at my thread, I put most pressure on the hard palate and it moved upwards eventually, not ideal.
