Hey all,

i recently started mewing and one of the problems i'm having is that i'm producing a lot of saliva. I also have a tongue thrust and i struggle to collect the saliva that's laying on the bottom of my mouth. I'm now at a point where my tongue doesn't go between my teeth anymore when swallowing, but i use my lips and cheeks to collect the saliva. Is this normal/bad?

Thanks

Try opening your mouth and saying an exaggerated Kick, now keep repeating but analyze the movements of the back of your tongue, these are the movements you should make when you swallow. If this is too difficult you're tongue is likely very weak, you should try to do tongue click exercises. You can do this by placing the tongue on the roof of your mouth and sucking hard enough so that when it drops it makes a click, do this about 40 times 3-4 times a day. A weak tongue or a tongue you have very little control with can't really gather the saliva that well so it's fine to use your cheeks for now.
