Hello, I am new to this forum but not TMJ, neck and shoulder pain, OSA, and general imbalances etc. Im not going to go thru my whole history but Ive dealt with TMJ, migraines, pain blah blah since adolescence until now in my life (~13-25). Went to dozens of Doctors when I was younger and never got solid answers, and my own father is a physician! my symptoms waxed and waned (especially with my own life stressors) 13-23 and then recently it got much worse with TMJ and sinus infections etc. Finally finding some resources online the last year after frustration and pain was extremely relieving, and to hear about other people with similar problems, who also had many doctors provide no help.

So I met with a dentist recently in Manhattan who is familiar with this sort of Epigenetic, mouth jaw treatments and she confirmed I should get treatment and recommended the DNA appliance. Reading about it it sounds promising, as do the other appliances. Thing is she quoted me at like $16k which is a lot, but for full orthodontics not completely absurd. The thing is there is so little objective information and full stories about people utilizing these techniques and seeing results.

I see a lot of smart people chatting about these things but it is very difficult to really find any kind of roadmap to follow, or even many before and after results from treatment. Obviously these issues exist but I want to confirm; are there any full studies, research or totally objective facts about what is going on here ? I understand the science of underdeveloped maxilla, and bone growth and the mechanics of it all seems to make sense to me, but can I get a consistent set of diagnosis, treatments and results in adults? there is DNA, AFL, FAGGA, mewing how do i know what my Doc is trying to sell me and what is the best treatment?

thanks in advance

Have you looked at Ronny Ead's migrainehacks.com blog? He is receiving FAGGA treatment from Dr. Leonard Kundel who has an office in Stamford, CT and one in Manhattan. I think of the DNA appliance as being better for transverse expansion whereas the FAGGA might be better for forward growth to decompress the TMJ. The price your provider quoted you seems excessive to me, but I don't know what all that figure includes.
