I found this interesting paper talking about the different common factors that influence skull remodeling, highlighting the actual biological processes that take place.
Of particular note is the section where they describe remodeling due to mechanical forces in/on the skull.
Although not exactly related to proper posture, I think this paper can shed some light for people who are curious or want to understand the actual processes underlying the effects of mewing.

The "this" is the link. Its blue and you can click it.
That's like ebook level reading. LOL Any TL;DR or summaries/key points we should know of?

Well right off the bat early in the paper, the most significant for us finding is the following:
"The strain-sensitive cells are thought to be osteocytes. While this process [of bone remodeling] is more active during childhood, even mature bone has the potential of remodeling. This can be loosely classified into three categories: (1) primary disease, (2) hormonally regulated changes in bone, and (3) alteration in stress or loading pressure. "
The last part of course being what we're interested in.
