Do retainers (both removable and permanent) prevent progress gained by mewing? I looked around on the forum for an answer for a bit, but I didn't find a straight answer. I have permanent retainers on the top and bottom, so just little wires glued to the back of my teeth, and removable retainers that are clear and fit over my teeth, kind of like invisalign. Will either, or both, of these retainers inhibit change?

I wouldn't recommend any retainer that takes up tongue space or hooks to the outside of teeth, because those will prevent expansion .

The retainer is basically there to make sure nothing moves.
