You've had a few beers, and still manage to maintain lip seal, tongue on the roof of the mouth, and keep your teeth touching. It's basically second nature at this point!

I find I actually mew harder when drunk sometimes. It's a great feeling to know that you've made the posture subconscious though, definitely.

You've taken this forum down a difficult, dangerous path which would only lead to our destruction if allowed to continue.

If this post of yours acts as kindling momentum towards forum meme-status, then you will need be illegitimized and then made an example of (in a way which doesn't make you a martyr)
That is my offer to you!

...Glad to hear the conditioning has worked. Thumbsup.tiff

I agree with @gregory. Memes are, by nature, bastardization of ideas. @Jkizzle's post was not that concerning by itself, but over time posts like these will gradually shift the context and focus of the forum. Users who have just come to the forum see such posts, judge that the atmosphere is fun, then start making even more irrelevant posts. The cycle repeats, eventually leading to semi-failure of everything the community was made for. It can happen so insidiously that I'd rather err on the side of caution.

I suspect @TGW doesn't want to control anyone here. I certainly don't. Currently, the community is small enough to moderate itself. After a certain point of communal growth some kind of off-topic subforum may come handy.

Perhaps we can sticky a thread for light conversation and beginner questions. This would encourage people to contribute and be a part of the community while still keeping clutter low on the main board.

I agree with not letting the forum become a place for memes because I have seen what that can do to post quality, and what can happen to a website that embraces that posting style over time. That said, I think there is a place for these lighter style posts as long as they are made with good intentions.

Threads should probably be reserved for people presenting new ideas and results, asking novel questions, or for people trying to flesh out theories they are working on. But we still want new people to be active here and contribute in some way because over time these new people might become real assets to the community. For example Jkizzle's other thread about molar width and expander use is very interesting. But at first I think people should be encouraged to read, search, and lurk as much as possible before posting because a flood of beginner questions is just as derailing and seems inevitable for this type of community due to the nature of the topic we are dealing with.

I have to agree with the moderators posts here wholeheartedly. While humour is always a good thing, doing so in a way that 'inadvertantly' harms the ethos of what this site and community forum upholds is something I personally wish not to see happen - especially as an inactive observer of the incredibly helpful content being made available here. It's important that care is taken to avoid topics that could encourage potentially disengenous, irrelevant and somewhat poisonous content to blossom that has led to sites like 'sluthate' and 'lookism' to amass an unsettling number of members. Rule of thumb: if you especially acknowledge that your post at worst will contribute to even"semi"-sh*t content then excercise better judgement as to whether it will serve any relevant purpose here. I don't want to see this site turn into a playground, for me this is a serious subject matter.

Completely agree, for a moment I thought I was in sluthate or one of those other forums. Let us not become like them.
