Stanford University’s biologist and population studies specialist Paul Ehrlich and orthodontist Sandra Kahn are bringing proper tongue posture to the mainstream with their new book, Jaws: The Story of a Hidden Epidemic.
The full story and interview with Stanford News was posted here.
Mewing is going mainstream..?
“I’ve never seen a hunter-gatherer skull with crooked teeth,” he told the interviewer, recounting a topic of conversation he first had with Richard Klein, a fellow Stanford palaeontologist and one of the foremost experts in the world on the human fossil record.
In fact, according to Ehrlich, skulls from just a few hundred years ago compared to today show significant changes in the makeup of our jaws. Our palates are much smaller. The clear trend is that our jaws are getting smaller, a trend which began during industrialization as our lives became more sedentary.
Sleep apnea, poorer physical appearance, improper swallowing, and more expensive dental work could all be prevented by teaching proper oral posture to children. Enrlich says that by merely keeping your mouth closed when not eating or talking, you can correct yourself.
And this gem:
“Lips closed, tongue on the palate, and teeth lightly touching” is the correct way to do it, Enrlich explains.
Sounds like mewing to me...
Personally i believe it's not just the sedentary lifestyle many modern humans live today directly causes poor jaw development, but more of how it makes us lazy which causes many people to have poor overall body posture and other bad habits
That book has been out for a while, but is vastly underrated.

Yep, exactly
you guys know, that mike and john mew didn't invent mewing? Mewing comes from Rolf Fränkel who invented it almost 100 years ago.
