Not sure if anything like this has been discussed here before but I thought you guys might be interested.

The article proposes that a tongue thrust swallow is the cause of midline compression, a high arch and narrow palate. The mechanism behind this begin that the tongue thrust swallow doesn't decompress the midline suture and therefore will not provide the required forces to keep the maxillary and palatine bones from jamming together. In addition the forward position of the tongue during a tongue thrust swallow causes the palatoglossus to contract from a diagonal position rather than a vertical one thus pulling the palatine bones forward jamming them into the maxillary bones. The article explains this in more depth with images and has a good explanation of the correct swallow.
Personally I am nearing the end of a retractive orthodontic "treatment" and noticed my left eye has become slightly nearsighted. Coincidentally the teeth on the left side of my mouth have retracted slightly more than those on the right. Im thinking this pulling back of my jaws in addition to the fact that I tongue thrust slightly is affecting my left orbital bone in the way mentioned in this article. Although anecdotal the top post on r/myopia talks about improved vision after jaw surgery.
Has anyone else experienced altered vision following changes of the jaws?
