So I've known mewing for a while and have been doing it softly mainly to keep my occlusion from getting worse. I didn't give it much thought until I saw my dog drinking water. What I noticed was how effortless he seemed to collect water with his tongue and bring it into his mouth. It seemed he had great tongue strength, but what was most interesting was how he used his tongue. It was as if the root of his tongue and the frontal part of the tongue acted in two different ways.

Look at this vid: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj4xObo0rrwAhVrRN8KHU07B5QQwqsBMAF6BAgHEE0&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D63Ch2pNkZwU&usg=AOvVaw2As3A4ZYcDEkSJIPGOzow0

It seems the dog stretched out his tongue and then contracted it. This made me think that the root of the tongue and the front part of the tongue work in antagonist ways. When the front part of the tongue is induced, the root of the tongue is stretched, and when the root is contracted, the front becomes stretched. This made me think that if you do this action multiple times a day, it would eventually open up your airway, as it's stretching your airway in two different ways. I also noticed that repeating this action also stretched my tongue tie as the front of the pushed forwards and downwards, and the back of the tongue pushed backwards and upwards.

It also made me think that if you have a more mobile and strong tongue, that would mean that you could push food to the side of your mouth more easily. I think that's what leads to the mouth expanding, the action of pushing food from your tongue to your teeth as hard as possible. This theory I have less confidence in but still think its a possibility.

perhaps there is something in this, but in any case, their innate reflexes clearly have great differences from humans.

Just to the question of which is more important, the back or front of the tongue :
In animals with a long jaw, the front tongue may have an effect only on the nasal cavity and half of the dental arch, the back tongue looking at the skull has a greater effect on the support of the eyes and cheekbones. But looking at the lower jaw, there are thoughts that it has more potential to support the entire area of the upper jaw
