Just a simple thing I discovered, if you place both index fingers at the lower portion of your cheekbones (a few inches below the lateral aspect of the eyes), push down firmly and pull out laterally so that the skin is stretched, then pull up slightly. You'll notice that it makes quite a large difference to your face, your lips are much wider, your nose is wider (you can also breathe better), your eyes become narrower, and your under eyes appear much less baggy. You can do this in the mirror, and mess about with it a bit.
The cheekbones make everything else on your face look better, it's not necessarily the protruding cheekbones by themselves, but it's the effect of pulling the skin over a wider surface area that makes the face look more aesthetically appealing.
