My face is horribly feminized through a Long midface
Is it possible to shorten the midface?
I hate it seeing Young women with masculine healthy facial proportions (short wide faces) while i have to suffer with a Long feminine midface
I saw something about it. I think it's possible but it's probably very intrusive and may leave scars.
Le Fort I does this.
30 yo, need to expand palate, move maxilla upward and forward, reduce gonial angle.
there is philtrum shortening surgery it can help
can you point to me this procedure?
1. Long midface isn't feminine. Notice how she looks more feminine when it becomes shorter. You confuse FWHR with midface ratio and they are not the same.

2. Palate expansion can accomplish this. Be it devices or posture. Therefore surgery is unnecessary.
Long midface is not feminine, just not appealing. If anything it is masculine.

Long midface isn't gender specific. Facial width to height ratio is. Men have wider faces than women. Men also have longer faces than women. And higher foreheads. Men's bones grow away from the face more than women's. Stretch a woman's skull out and sideways while keeping her face the same (as in aspect ratio between eyes/nose/mouth) and she would look more masculine.

So... I guess maybe chewing gum isn't so bad for long face. LOL I honestly wouldn't overdo it, though. And, it can drive forward a chin so it only seems to make sense for when that is desired. A forward chin is less desirable in a woman. It does sound like in this video surgery is it.
BUT!!! Here's the thing... shortening a midface is easy. Who cares about surgery, intrusion, all that when you can RESHAPE a palate? Vivos and Dr. Sue Lee do that all the time.
Why IS the face long? See? We need to ask those questions. Is the palate high? Well, there you go. If it is high, then it likely isn't wide. So, you REFORM a DEFORMED palate. This is what we're talking about. It's not about cutting.
So @zygos when you say feminine... I read skinny. The reason it's skinny is your palate it tall and not very wide. See.. your palate wants to grow... if your tongue didn't keep it out side-to-side or through eating good, healthy foods or whatever the root cause, such as tongue stuff... if you didn't get it to shape out, then the palate kept growing... but it grew taller. So, to get the face you want, you're not going to be able to do MSE to get there. Chopping the palate in 2 to bring together I haven't heard of, but hypothetically it could work. Here's the thing... the issue is the width. You need to transfer the palatal height into palatal width. This is primarily up top, but you need to align the teeth top and bottom... so 2 appliances. You don't want to chop it into bits. You want to reshape it to be wider... a true palatal widening. But, it looks like it depends on several factors of how to address. Dr. Mahony rightly points out that there are options. :-) I know basically that everything he says is right... so to say "Dr. Mahony rightly points out..." is unnecessary. He's a master educator!
I haven't seen your photos, but if your chin is back and you're narrow and you have long-face syndrome... I'd go with DNA appliance. You can also try SLDA. Both of these should do something. If your chin isn't so far back, I'd lean toward SLDA. If it is quite recessed, I'd lean toward DNA with acrylic planes between the teeth. The bite planes allow for a new bite positioning to be made. Also... if you do DNA, don't talk with it in. And, ask for a thinner bite plane. Don't tape. It will stretch the philtrum. I suppose you could do wireframe DNA and you may not even need a bite plane. Not sure your situation.
