My "plate-expander" is slipping in my mouth because of that my palate has moved down.
So I have used a myobrace model d2 for two months now. It helped my better my tounge placement but the expansion process is slow. So I planning on buying a new expander.
I have a deep bite and my muscles near my temples, above the ears swells a lot during hard food chewing. And I have a gap between two teeth that I don’t like. My front teeth in my lower jaw is sticking out. I have attached pictures.
So do you an other active plate-expander will do good work or should I try a y-expander?
Any thoughts?
My advice is that you should train yourself to automatically apply proper oral posture at all times. This will speed up your change a lot. In other words, get yourself to have your tongue in the roof of the mouth, teeth together, lips sealed, at all times except for when eating/speaking. If you have not already done this, this is the obvious first thing you must accomplish. You do not need a device to make you do this, you just need to train hard until you start doing it automatically.
When you wake up with your tounge in the roof of the mouth you know you have made progress in this regard.
Strengthen your tongue by pushing your tongue up against the roof of your mouth in repetitions, hold it until your tongue muscle burns. Chew tough gum such as falim gum to strengthen your masseters. And most importantly, force yourself to have your tongue in the roof of the mouth with your teeth together at all times.
I think the ALF appliance is a good choice of an expander to use while mewing since it relies on, and encourages, proper oral posture.
Good luck.
Thanks for the reply. I’m mewing daily. But its uncomfortable for my tongue to rest at the palate. It because of my narrow palate.
The ALF, where can I buy it? I’m from Sweden, dont know if there is a dentist here that can help me.
