Why does my upper maxilla look less recessed when there is light under my face?

Hey all,

I'm pretty sure my lower maxilla is fine, however I think my upper maxilla is recessed. When I look in normal mirrors with no light over  it looks like my whole midface is set back. However, when I look in a mirror with light directly over it, it looks like my entire midface moves forward. Does anyone know the reason behind this and how to get this look all the time ? My cheekbones are high set and protruding (have hollow cheeks), and I could do to lose a bit of body fat. Would getting to a lower body fat give me this effect all the time and not just under light?
