Will mewing correct a low smile line?

I was wondering by how much (if at all) my dental arch can move in relation to my mouth/lips without surgical intervention? Usually the issue is a gummy smile, but I'm the opposite. Only my lower teeth show when I talk/smile and it's not a good look. I was wondering if mewing or palatal expansion might have any affect on the vertical alignment of my smile? For reference, as a kid I would suck my thumb constantly and although I don't have an open bite (my teeth are pretty straight) I fear I may have pushed my maxilla upwards causing this weird looking smile.
