hi everyone,
I am new here, and new to mewing/orthotropics as well. I am a 26f interested in learning more. the concept of self-improvement through correct posture is empowering to me, and something I definitely hope to pass on to my future kids if I do have kids some day.
I am wondering if I could have some honest feedback as to whether my forward facial growth looks okay? I struggle with severe body dysmorphia, so please be kind (yet still honest!) I feel confident in my cheekbones and jawline, but am concerned as to whether my chin looks recessed.
some background; I didn't know about mewing until recently and kinda wish I knew sooner. However, my mother blessed me with healthy eating habits; plenty of veggies meaning lots of chewing. Good posture was also strongly encouraged in my family. My mom was against braces and against unnecessary wisdom teeth removal, though I don't know as to whether wisdom teeth matter when it comes to facial structure. Nonetheless, I currently have invisalign, but am not getting any extractions. Like I said, I am very new to this!
Thank you all so much for your help. I look forward to getting to know everyone on here, and learning from others.
I would like to remain anonymous, so please call me by my alias, Kisa. c:
also, how effective is mewing in adults? I hear so many mixed things!
If you have body dismorphia, this site is the last thing you want to read everyday 🙂
You look more than fine. Cheekbones are popping and you look healthy. Good skin, hair looks good.
If you want your chin to pop more, do not jut it forward because that does the contrary. Your eyes close and you lose bloodflow to the head 🙂
The only way to have a more prominent/longer/forward chin is by being healthier and increasing bloodflow to your head muscles, eyeballs, masseters etc.
Do gym/cardio(especially fascial and pelvic/lower abs work), chew, READ BOOKS(if, when you read, you don't naturally mew, don't do it, you lack the forward growth to mew), and don't mew "intentionally". Just be healthier and results will come. Try catching 1 hour of sun a day.
As for posture, i wouldnt worry about it too much. Our bodys are very fluid, as long as we remain active enough(running twice a week will do wonders for your spine).
Your eyes the the window to the soul. Try opening your eyes hard when you mew. IF you cannot and your vision fogs or doubles, don't mew 😛
thank you so much for all of your advice and encouragement, I really appreciate it! plus I love running and reading and most of the things you mentioned, so will gladly take this advice. c:
I never considered how improved blood flow can help with good facial growth. It does make a lot of sense.
Are there any facial exercises you would recommend?
Orthoptics.
Actual yoga(don't mew).
Chewing(not too much, dont touch your teeth too much if chewing gum, your teeth r not suposed to touch, its bruxism)
Weight lifting/Exercise.
Sun exposure.
Cold showers.
Reading.
Eating extremely sour candy.
Having sex.
Let me say, you should be SO grateful for your mother giving you good food and rejecting the death cult of modern orthodontics. As far as forward growth goes, it’s pretty darn good!
