Uncertain about central incisors touching

Hello all,

I thought I was doing mewing correctly for around 2yrs. But something recently boggles my mind.

The posture of my jaw, from the pure look, is so that the central incisors of the upper and lower jaw are almost touching. They're on the same height.

If I lay down on my back, my jaw however falls "back" a bit. It does not stay at the same position that I was talking about above.

If I "enforce"/do this position with my jaw, the central incisors do NOT touch, the lower incisors are behind the upper ones. It looks similar to the teeth from the "how your teeth should look like" images (where the teeth from the upper jaw are more front).

But here is the problem: If I keep that posture of my jaw. It looks like I am trying to imitate the look of a weak chin, because I am pushing my lower jaw backwards.

It is kind of hard to describe, I hope you got the point.

I am pretty much confused right now what's correct and what is not. The incisors almost touching feels wrong, but the way it makes my jaws look, "looks" way better.

Any opinion on that?

Best regards

John

Ideally for forward growth you shouldn't be sleeping on your back, but your incisors shouldn't be touching, in fact none of your teeth should. Mike said at the very hardest it should be a butterfly touch, a butterfly touch is very gentle. So simply don't touch.
