I'm in San Jose, CA so would like to find good ortho's in northern CA.  There are a few possibilities in my area but not sure how great they are, and I do not want any more dental professionals in my mouth unless they really have their sh*t together.

Also, I dont understand how anyone can achieve a good overall result with Mewing and without an ortho.  If I improved my skeletal occlusion substantially via Mewing, my dental occlusion would likely be a mess... seems my rear teeth would no longer be touching if Mewing resolved overbite from retruded mandible.

What are you looking to have done specifically? Let me know and I can suggest something more specific.

Anyway, I’ve discussed this in a number of threads, but if you are serious, you ideally want an ortho who specializes in dentofacial orthopedics, and you want to utilize bone-anchored appliances. If you are an adult I would highly advise avoiding the orthtropic orthodontist route — your results will not justify the cost at all.

That being said, I am planning to go to an orthotropic orthodontist only after completing my main treatment in order to get a functional applince for night use/retention and postural training.

Mainly looking for someone to do comprehensive eval and suggest a plan.  Assuming I need an appliance for palate expansion and maxilla redevelopment, something like ALF or DNA.  I'm in my early 50s.  I have narrow airway, narrow high palate, overbite, moderate maxilla retrusion.

What's an example of a bone anchored appliance?
