Hi all,
I am new to the Mewing community. I have few questions with starting out the Mewing process.
1.
I often read that I should have trouble nose breathing when my tongue is properly postured against the top of the mouth, I don't seem to have this trouble and instead my nose breathing becomes easier.
Is this expected or I should have trouble breathing with my nose when the posture is correct?
2.
When I press my tongue really hard or hard for long time, I feel pressure in my ears, eventually pain. IS this expected? :))
Short info about me:
-I set up my tongue by biting down teeth, then smiling and while keeping the smile I dry swallow. This seems to set up my tongue on top of the pallet.
-I used to have braces on my upper teeth only, when I was around 11 years old for approx 1 year. I still have all my teeth including the wisdom teeth. I'm turning 27 soon.
Thanks so much :)))
It is a good sign that you have enough tongue space to fully engage the posterior third of your tongue, as you describe using the cheesy smile swallow technique, without causing airway obstruction. The fact that you have room for all of your wisdom teeth also suggests that you have above-average tongue space. Pressure in your ears/eustachian tubes when you press your tongue firmly on your palate is probably normal, but it shouldn't cause pain.
Apollo,
thanks for your answer.
I have no visible cheekbones though(Unless I bite down), also slightly concave face profile, oval/square face shape. I thought mewing could at least slightly help looks wise and significantly health wise.

Having enough space to practice correct tongue posture from the outset should allow you to achieve faster results than most people who initially have to find a compromise posture.
