I had actually worn an expander prior to having my braces fit as a teenager, but it seemingly did little for my palate. Currently my width seems to be in the mid to upper 30s (mm), but the right side is much narrower and makes mewing fairly asymmetric. This extend into my face as well, if you can see what I'm talking about in this very handsome pic on the left side. The maxilla is fairly recessed, especially under the nostril. Zygomatic bone is also less developed and has resulted in negative canthal tilt on that side.
I'm browsing the bracesshop site trying to determine which expander may serve me best. Some of the modified options have 3-5 screws. I wonder if this added specificity would be more useful in correcting asymmetry?

I've mentioned in other threads that I think adults should not try to expand sagittally with a removable appliance because it will cause far more dental than skeletal changes without a suture to separate in that direction. So I don't think there is any reason to spend extra for the expanders that have sagittal screws. I don't think you could correct skeletal asymmetry by turning a screw on one side more than the other. I've used the basic schwarz-style expander, and it has made some minor improvements to my asymmetry, but I mostly think the expander is just a tool to help get enough tongue space to achieve correct oral posture, and then the oral posture should help resolve the asymmetry.
