So im 18 years old and have a normal sized maxilla/ upper arch. However in order to be able to mew and breath better, i decided to buy a y plate expander that arrives in a view weeks. When I bought it i did not think i would need to buy a lower expander as well, since mike mew said, that the mandible follows the Maxilla. However as I will do a semi rapid expansion, like Mike mew suggested, I fear that my lower jaw / arch wont grow/ expand as fast as my upper one. So should I get a lower expander as well? Or is the expansion still slow enough for the mandible to adapt?

Not sure about the mandible, but I would think that the Y-plate, using the front screw, wouldn't help with breathing, since it would just make your maxilla / alveolar bone longer front-to-back.  The posterior nasal spine, I would think, would remain where it is.  Although it's possible that you could potentially get more forward space for your tongue.
