I've been mewing for quite some time now but I haven't gotten started on chewing gum yet.
Recently I have ordered some falim gum and it is due to come on December 6 but in the meantime, i've been reading some posts on this forum and it seems as if some people have experienced "bloated cheeks" because of chewing gum. Now, i'm not sure why this would happen as wouldn't chewing gum only hypertrophy your masseter muscles and not your buccinators? I plan on chewing gum for 1-2 hours and I really don't want my cheeks to become pudgy.
How does the muscles of mastication cause cheeks to bloat?
Also when I was chewing gum my buccinators where dominate and they naturally wanted to move and shift the gum around rather than me just using my tongue. I prefer short and intense exercises with a bigger piece of gum rather than just a long continuous chewing, but if you want to chew for longer periods I suggest being mindful of your cheeks activating.
