I really need someone's actual answers on this and not just guesses or maybes as I cannot find any answers or consensus on this online. Does wearing an Invisalign Clear/Plastic Retainer at night (when you go to sleep) and when you are not mewing while you are a sleep prevent the results from Mewing? Do you think that I am safe to stop wearing my Invisalign plastic/clear retainers forever and not even put them on at night? Because I hear some claim that retainers at night can prevent results from mewing but then others saying that it is fine to keep wearing the retainers at night. My main concern with this is that I do not want my teeth to revert back to their original crowded and overbite form that I had before my Invisalign braces, but I also want to get results from mewing the best that I can.
I think if my retainer is pushing my teeth inwards, it could be potentially restricting my tongue from expanding my palate and moving my maxilla upwards & forwards because my retainers could be applying backwards pressure to my teeth. If I only wear my retainers at night, which will push my teeth inwards and then during the day push my tongue to the roof my mouth, which will push my teeth outwards, can't this prevent me from getting results from mewing as well as wobble my teeth back and forth / do damage to my teeth? Essentially, I think wearing the retainer, even at night, can prevent positive results from proper tongue posture as well as do damage.
Will stopping my Invisalign Clear retainer use at night and forever cause retention or my teeth to go back to their original crowded / overbite form even if I maintain proper tongue posture and have my tongue on the roof of my mouth? Essentially, I don't want any relapse to happen and I have read online that, for the most part, relapse does not happen if you do have proper tongue posture, but I wanted to know your guys opinion on this.
It's a catch 22 basically because wearing the retainers at night can potentially revert any type of progress that I have made in the day from pushing my tongue on the roof of my mouth to expand my maxilla, but at the same time, not wearing the retainers at night could make my teeth crowded again and there is no 100% certain way of me knowing which way things are going to go. Do you think that getting a permanent or bonded/fixed braces in the back of my teeth and having proper tongue posture or pushing my tongue on the roof of my mouth would be another viable option or would this prevent mewing results as well? I understand this is a pretty lengthy post, but I really wanted your guys opinion on this. If you could answer my questions and/or give any advice on this, I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.
