Hey y'all,
I've read that a square jaw is due to the masseter muscles doing work on the facial bones.
The masseters widen intergonial width, cause bone deposition near the gonions and increase rammus length, all contributing to the masculine square jaw.
During development of the face, all these rapidly change the lower jaw.
My Q is, as a 20 year old male, will I still be able to naturally obtain a squarer mandible via lots of chewing? Or are the effects of chewing on bone remodeling so marginal now that it's no longer feasible?
Cheers!

It's entirely possible to get a nice square jaw through mewing and chewing as you mentioned above. What I think is that, most people are recessed and it gives the appearance of a weak jaw and when you pull it forward via appliances or whatever it will get much stronger.

Watch that video, John Mew talks about all of this.
Based on this video I can comfortably say that humans are meant to be "good looking" like models. Nobody is born ugly, nobody, period. There is no genes that make you ugly.
In answer to your question, maybe you should just pull your maxilla forward? Or you should widen it
That is way too optimistic FutureModel. I'm yet to see any real results in adults from "mewing" alone. There are a few anecdotal cases on forums, but that is about it.
30 yo, need to expand palate, move maxilla upward and forward, reduce gonial angle.
Yep, that's why I mentioned appliances
I tried chewing and it didn't work. Just made my face look bloated. You want BONE not Muscle hypertrophy. Bone looks aesthetic, fat muscle on cheeks looks chunky and fat, since it is not hard tissue.

hey,
What was your mewing routine? I have the same issue as you, gummy smile, narrow palate etc and I actually paid for a consultation with Dr Mew and he said I should be able to see some improvement in around 2 years (im 22). But atm I'm considering a maxillo-mandibular advancement (costs around £10,000) cos I want solid results sooner.
