Hey guys. I've been using a "JawlineMe" (copy of Jawsrsize, though they seem to have heavier weights, starting resistance is around 36lbs), and am enjoying it. However, when I saw an ad for "Chisell," which uses the molars to chew, I decided to order some.
They haven't come in yet. I had some tube dampers lying around, as I'm a guitarist and used to use these on my combo tube amps. They're high density silicone. I decided to cut one in half and use it in my back teeth to chew, and am very happy with these so far. They feel extremely tough and durable. Buying some silicone chew toys for kids on Amazon, I tore through those very quickly, some of them splitting only a couple minutes into chewing. After a week or so they were all destroyed, with major splits throughout, providing no resistance anymore...not good.
They also make rings for larger tubes that will obviously be larger, in case that suits you better.
I simply took an Xacto knife and cut it cleanly in half. The C shaped pieces actually are quite nice to chew and give a very good grip/feel. I'm posting prematurely, as I only started this today, but given how much denser these feel than any of the chew toys I bought on Amazon, I imagine they will last much longer. Only time will tell...
Just another quick, easy option, and potential one of the longer lasting ones, for chewing exercises. I tried mastic gum and enjoyed it, but I re-ordered several times, and each time the consistency was not right, it never hardened, and stayed gooey/stretchy, much to my disappointment. High density silicone seems like a great alternative.
If anyone else decides to order some and give them a try, let me know. I'd be curious what you think. I get paranoid about durability, and in a perfect world, a chewing exercise piece of silicone would be like a dumbbell or barbell: reusable forever without breaking down. We'll see how this goes.
