Hey Great-workers,

I have two separate topics I would like to discuss here.

Firstly, I wanted to talk about fleshiness of the face. I am a relatively thin person, but I have lot of cheek fat, and the skin around my eyebrows is not tight. I am wondering if it's because my palate is so high and my maxilla is not expanded. Has anyone experienced improvement in this if they have it?

Secondly,

I have been trying proper tongue posture on and off for a year or so. I have noticed that trying to push my maxilla forward has actually pushed my font teeth out? (Something I struggled with when I was young before braces)

Suggestions? Comments?

I hope you all are doing really well!

Best,

Colette

How's your swallowing technique?

1. Is it fatty or just fleshy? Old age could cause your face to be more flabby, and also if you're a woman you will tend to store more fat on the face. Also, after knowing many fat and skinny people I can say that some people just genetically store more fat on their face and theres really nothing they can do about it bar literal anorexia. Don't do that. However, if you have more forward growth in your face clearly you would have less flab and wrinkles because your skin would be pulled more "taught".

2. What apollo might be getting at with his question is that your might still be tongue thrusting. That would be my first thought for flaired out upper teeth since I also went through that post braces as a child. With proper posture and function the front of your tongue should never touch the front teeth.

It's not fatty per se, it just seems like it could be more filled out by bone structure. Idk.

As to your second point, I don't have much of a swallowing technique since the back of my tongue can't easily reach my high palate yet. I didn't think that my tongue would be touching my teeth, I wondered if I was pushing them forward simply by having my tongue near them?

It't not great since I can barely reach the back of my tongue to my palate. (No tongue tie)

If your palate is wide, proclined teeth only help fill your face out and they allow your chin to project

With bad swallowing technique, buccniator hypertrophy could be filling out your cheeks and tongue thrusting could be tipping your upper incisors. You might try practicing the push swallow and see if it helps. Mastering swallowing mechanics can also improve resting tongue posture.
