I just noticed in the mirror, after 30mins of hard mewing, my front teeth are a bit separated, almost nothing (perhaps 1/4 milimeter) but I can see it, is this a risk? I wouldn't like to end up with diastema

Same thing happened to me after my first week or two of mewing. On Week 5 now. In my case I'm thinking they may come back together when the palate settles down and restructures itself. Or when my impacted wisdom teeth erupt. I'm not sure how common the splitting of the maxilla is in creating diastema. I'm curious to know though.

Here are some relevant videos I just posted in another thread...

A diastema forming means that you are getting growth at the midpalatal suture, which is what your goal should be if you are trying to expand your palate, rather than just getting dentoalveolar effects, teeth shifting, etc.

In any case, you have elastic fibers running between your teeth that will pull them into alignment over time. A 1/4 mm diastema is nothing and it will probably close faster than you can naturally expand it.
