I'd predict that children have been able to correct gummy smile behaviorally, but not adults. When I Skyped with Mike Mew in 2017, he recommended "impacting" my maxilla (AFTER widening it with something like ALF) with buccal TADs, which are an old technology that many orthos still use (though one ortho I saw wanted me to have lingual TADs (!?!?!)). I'm still working on lateral and anterior growth myself and will probably do TAD impaction at the end if I still have a low, gummy maxilla.

I am 20yo, so not a child but still not adult. Eventhough I'm not doubting it would be easier for children to correct a gummy smile; with all the good stories on this forum I doubt it is impossible for adults.
