Does chewing and size of masseters affect development of hollow cheeks? Since chewing increases the size of the masseters, I read online that big masseters can lead to a slightly bloated look. Can anyone explain or share their experience with how often they chew and how hollowed their cheeks are? Or just any experience with hollow cheeks at all. Thanks !

I think the bloated look comes only from big masseters in combination with high body fat and/or hypertrophied buccinator muscles. I can't imagine how one could have a bloated look with very low body fat and small buccinator muscles.

I developed some hollow cheeks through increase in masseter size and I chewed mastic gum for more than a half year now every day. But also keep in mind that big/prominent cheekbones are maybe even more important for hollow cheeks than the masseter muscle. All people I saw with great hollow cheeks had very prominent zygomatic bones.

Bloated with little face definition = you are too fat in the face.

Palate expansion helps with hollow cheeks because the zygos become prominent. So focus on mewing and chewing for a while and then later on fat loss.

i started  mewing in january 2018, in the last month i'm noticing  cheekbones a lot more prominent laterally than before and at the same time my cheeks are hollow even though my body fat increased.

Curious to see what happen if i lose some weight.

Thanks! How often do you chew? Do you think 30 min on each side every day is sufficient or too much?

Yeah that's exactly what I was looking into lol. My cheeks have atrophied to become slightly hollow and prominent under certain light, but I was looking into ways to improve it. I read on another thread that some guy who did OMC achieved hollow cheeks within 3 months of chewing

Sorry  for the misconception; im around 10-14% bf, but I'd like to know more abt how to atrophy the buccinators to the point where they're thin and hollow. Is it just purely proper tongue and swallow posture or does chewing play a role in it?

Chewing doesn't affect the cheek muscles themselves unless you chew horribly. It can build the masseters to a point the skin is more taut and away from the cheeks creating more definition
