I am asking this since I am not exactly sure if my back of my tongue is on the roof of my mouth, it feels as if only my front and middle section of my mouth is.

Try with putting the back of your tongue up, then your middle, then your front. As opposed with starting from the front.
I was doing a chin tuck and swallowed and I think I felt the back of the tongue up and that is how I figure it out, but I can't do it for more than a few seconds.
