And how many of you are here because of postural related imbalances that you believe is coming from your skull?
I just want to know, because sometimes I feel alone among all you trying to look more attractive (not that there is anything wrong about that).
I am trying to breath and reverse the awful orthodontics treatment I had 10 years ago.
my story: http://www.aljabri.com/blog/my-story/
ive just finished 18months orthodontic work, but i think the damage on my face was already done due to 20+years of mouth breathing. Orthodontics has actually given me more prominent cheekbones and hollow cheeks. but my mandible (lower jaw) is not defined at all so this is what i need the most work.
I had braces and retainers from age 9-12. I think they did some bad and some good, but I'm also correcting damage from forward head posture, incorrect swallow and misplaced tongue in adulthood (seems that all occurred after a car accident). I think braces and retainers gave me a weaker lower 3rd, good for my chin shape as a woman but a more forward grown lower 3rd is something I'm trying to work toward.
Remember this pain... and let it activate you.
I had a class 3 maloclussion fixed by orthodontics but it recessed my maxilla even further and gave me bulging eyes and lips that are too everted. It made me look feminine (and possibly in an old lady way) and I really hate that. My long midface remained (old face) but my lower third shortened (young face) so it was a horrible combo.
As a child, I was a class 3, had a set of braces to fix that, then a second set at 12-16 with bicuspid extractions for teeth alignment. I am now class 2 with asymmetry in my face due to scoliosis and poor tongue posture.
I am absolutely here for correcting my posture in as much capacity as I can, no matter the outcome of my face. Is increased symmetry for attractiveness a hope in all of this? Yep, no denying. Ultimately, though, even if my face doesn't become what I want it to be, my spine and jaw will thank me decades from now. My uncle is already using a C-PAP and is skeptical of myofunctional therapy, and I watch his breathing get worse each year. My mother has lost 3 inches, but it's from posture, not from bone loss, and she just thinks it's the way life goes. I hope to prevent that.
