My lower jaw/mandible is approximately 1cm more developed than my maxilla as when i extend it/perform jutting its at least 8 mms past my top incisors, also consider i have a slight overbite. Is it normal even for good looking people/people with good maxilla development to be able to jutt their jaw a few mms at least, or is it only if you are severely recessed that you will be able to extend your mandible significantly past your upper incisors?
Depends on how retroclined your incisors are and how far back your maxilla is (maybe)
I'm able to protrude my lower incisors about 6mm beyond my upper incisors. I've proposed this measurement in the past as another method (in addition to the mew indicator line) to track forward changes in the maxilla. Do you think this would work, or would shifting the maxilla forward decompress the TMJ and allow the mandible to protrude even farther?
If I protrude my mandible forward into a class 3 under bite position, it looks like my maxilla could come forward about 5-7mm. However, I don't know if moving the maxilla forward would allow more room for the mandible to swing even farther forward. Either way, it seems like just 5mm of forward maxillary growth would make a significant improvement to my face. This is well within the scale of typical FAGGA results, but I hope to achieve something comparable using tongue pressure. I will continue to monitor my Mew indicator measurement, but I wonder if measuring how far my mandible can protrude beyond the maxilla would be another way to track forward progress.
