I finally received my Y plate expander, but is there a guide anywhere on how to use it? I've looked and see that the consensus seems to be 1 mm per week, but how many turns with the key is that? There are two wheels to crank on either side of the expander. Is 1 mm one turn each? Also, are they supposed to be worn all day or only at night?
4 turns = 1 mm look at the holes on the metal round part that turns/widens the expander, there should be 4 of them, each turn of one of those holes equal 1/4 mm
How much you should wear it depends on your goals. The more you wear it the faster you will be able to expand.
Are you going to wear it at night and use your tongue during the day for expansion? If your like me I'm not able to even keep my night expansion with my tongue, so I must wear it as much as possible. Again these are individual questions you will have to figure out on your own/help with dr.
How fast? That also depends, some may be able to make 1mm per week others will not, some times you may be able to go that fast, while other times not. Again it varies person to person.
You will have to start wearing it and figure it out as you go.
