If this is dumb PLEASE GIVE A QUICK EXPLATION.

but it makes sense to me. even with good tounge posture, won't sleeping on the back cause the maxilla to do deeper into the face?

No.

Correct body alignment and posture will naturally make your tongue pressure the palate.

Having in mind back sleeping is the healthiest way to sleep for body posture, its logically the best way to sleep for correct growth.

Obviously most people can't do it because we don't develop well enough these days due to too much sitting and soft foods.

@roflcopters

The major problem I have with this, is that back sleeping does not appear to be our natural resting state. Tribes people sleep on their sides, using their arm as a pillow. And I recently watched a youtube video which suggesged that the brain cleans itself out better at night when sleeping on the side, rather than back or stomach.

My back does feels amazing after a night on the floor with a low pillow, but this is compared to side sleeping with a pillow in a man made matress, so its hard to decide whats best

i dont believe an.increased ability to mew is evidence for anything. we have not developed properly

I'm ignorant on the subject -- is it established that gravity plays the role in pulling the maxilla down and back? I feel like there must be other possible explanations.

That's not correct, stomach sleeping on hard mattress is the best for the spine and body relaxation. Sleeping on your back increases pelvic tilt and lordosis.

Sleeping on stomach also doesn't affect breathing and improves digestion by keeping the digestive system warm

Some people on this forum (myself included) suspect that with a correct oral posture, it is not the maxilla that swings up and forwards, but rather, other elements of the school shift to make the mid-section less prominent (and in turn make the chin and forehead more prominent). The photos that I have taken of myself (aligned at the ear) seem to indicate that my maxilla had actually moved up and backwards, rather than forwards.

Perhaps @EddieMoney can elaborate on this more accurately?

From what ive seen back sleeping actually does help with kyphosis and lordosis.

It also helps balancing your pelvis.

Stomach sleeping increases kyphosis and posterior pelvic tilt. It also doesnt help with the forward head posture because it puts a heavy load on your neck.
