Hello, first thread here.
I started mewing a couple of month ago, eventhough I started working my tongue one or two years ago.
My problem is that I have braces to correct the disorders my tongue did to my teeth after it pushed them forward. Some specialists started working on my crappy occlusion 2 years ago. Two years after, my occlusion is still faaaar from being satisfying. It is still much better than before tho.
The problem is that it seems like my mandible is not "wide enough" to fit with my upper teeth, especially on the right side, which visually is much more thin than the left side. I don't have braces on my upper teeth anymore, but I still have braces on my lower teeth, and I'm wondering if mewing isn't just accelerating maxilla growth while my braces are preventing my lower jaw to compensate and create a nice occlusion. In the mirror it seems like my mandible is missing 1 or 2 mm to fit; and I think it compensated by "dephasing" my lower and upper jaw, since the middle of lower incisors is 1-2mm away to the right from the middle upper incisors.
What are your thoughts ? Should I put off these bracets and try to mew my way to victory, or it won't change anything ?
Furthermore, my orthodontist is trying to "egress" my lower teeth, make them move upperward, like growing. Is it a BAD thing or it doesn't matter ?
Thanks !
