I am an Asian teenager have a mild bimaxillary protrusion. I have been practicing mewing for over 2 months. But lately, I find my mouth protruding more and the protrusion seems to be much more prominent, oddly just my upper jaw. Then I came to this brutal realization: if mewing makes the tongue press upward and FORWARD and the tongue can affect my teeth, maybe mewing itself is in fact worsening my protrusion. What’s more is that I found out that my teeth is not protruding, the bone(or the gum) protrudes. This discovery is so gruesome to me because I always place my tongue on the top of my mouth, NOT the teeth, which means that probably mewing is pushing my bone forward.

Is mewing to blame or it’s in my DNA? Tell me your thoughts

If your intermolar width has no increased but your teeth seen more protruding then there is a chance you are doing it wrong.

Bimax isn't genetic. And healthy human jaws are forward and wide. My teeth protrude now more than the last 3 year's. But my whole jaw came forward so my profile looks flatter. Because I could slide my mandible forward. If you can't slide your mandible forward then you did it wrong. Can you slide your mandible to the new maxilla position?
