So ive been mewing for maybe 3-4 days now and are you supposed to apply pressure with your tongue or should it just rest at the top? Second problem are you supposed to have contact with your teeth while walking? Cause it almost clenches them when i take a step. Also when having bubble gum in your mouth how are you supposed to do then?

hard mewing = pressure on roof. people on here with good progresses mostly hard mewed.

soft mewing = just posture, no pressure.

contact with teeth =  just low contact or slightly apart, don't clench hard cuz it will cause jaw and teeth problems

bubble gum = use it to train tongue muscles. put it on the roof of your mouth and roll it into a ball, after that make it flat with your tongue and push it back and forward on the roof of your mouth with only your toungue. (tongue chewing).

for maxilla gains just chew hard gum for 1 hour a day, i wouldn't go longer because some people also got problems from that. some others chew 4-8 hours daily.

You should apply pressure that is between soft and hard, so you don't let your tongue drop or damage your teeth. You're supposed to have contact with your teeth whenever you can. The purpose of chewing(in a mewing perspective) is to strengthen the muscles(tongue and muscles of mastication). You do this by moving the food around in your mouth with your tongue and more importantly tongue chewing. "What is tongue chewing?" you might be asking, it's taking gum or food that you can effectively do this with and pressing it up onto the palate.

Feel free to ask more questions.

This is an example of how new people get lead on the wrong path from the start.

@whereamineeded

Did you have a chance to watch Dr. Mike Mew videos on tongue posture and mewing? I think you will notice he never talks about hard or soft. He refers to tongue posturing as a challenge to remember to keep the tip of the tongue on the N spot and apply suction. So it's not an effort in applying pressure but in remembering to place the tongue on the roof of the mouth and apply suction.

Your first step should be all about building the habit to pout the tip of the tongue on the roof of the mouth. There are other important steps including starting to chew gum, exercising your tongue, and fixing your bdy's posture.

Yes, near or light contact will happen automatically if you suction the posterior third correctly.

Myabe not but some conditions make tongue posturing challenging. Do you have tongue tie, have you had previous orthodontic treatment?
