Hey folks,
Searched thru the NCR topics here and at breakthematrix but haven't noticed the answer to this anywhere, hoping somebody here can shed some light on it. For the record I've got Ben Stratton's self-NCR guide so am not going about this blindly, though I feel this question may sound very moronic. Here goes:
When inflating the balloon during NCR, am I doing it wrong if the nose is being visibly inflated by the balloon?
Each time I've tried this (only a handful of times), I get an obvious popping sensation but whatever side of my nose the balloon is in inflates with it. I do not know if that is normal, or if I'm not going deep enough with the cot into the nasal passage. It's a bit embarrassing asking such an elementary question, but it's even more frustrating not knowing if one is doing this even close to correctly, or not.
I've watched videos of inflations being done on youtube as well, but the practitioner's hand is always obstructing clear view of the patient's nose, so haven't found any help there either.
Appreciate your time!
I use my fingers to compress the sides of my nose to help ensure that the finger cot inflates through the meatus into the nasopharynx rather than back into the vestibule. Once you figure out the technique it becomes very obvious when the finger cot expands beyond the turbinates.
Thank you! Will incorporate this moving forward.
Is there a way I can get a copy of this self-ncr guide?
