I find it impossible to cover both my hard and soft palates with my tongue. Am I meant to cover both, or just the soft palate? I read (from a fairly unreliable source) that pressing against the hard palate can help to shorten the face, whereas pressing the soft palate pushes the maxilla forwards. At the moment, I'm pressing the soft palate and the ridge between the two, but I have a fairly long face, so should I start pressing the hard palate instead? Will it even do anything?
Also, Is your tongue meant to touch that slimy shit at the back of your throat? Is it normal to even have that there?
Hard palate, soft palate doesn't matter, if anything, trying to press the tongue on the soft palate is a bad idea.
But isn't the hard palate the bit directly behind your teeth? Where do you press the back of your tongue if not the soft palate? (seeing as everyone says the back third of the tongue is most important)
The hard palate is bone, the soft palate is tissue, pressing on the soft palate does nothing except obstruct the airway, you do not want your tongue so far back. The back of the tongue of the tongue should be pressing against the back third of the hard palate.
